14 Strips and One Month Later
Today marks the one month anniversary of Flatt Bear.
This is the part where I write about what a wild ride it’s been. How the syndicates are all fighting over who gets the publish the strip, or how I’m setting up a booth next to Marvel Comics at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con. But won’t… well I can’t. And that’s really OK.
Because what I can write about is more important. I can write how truly thankful I am for those who chose to show up three times a week for the last month to read the strip. You’ve all been incredibly receptive, positive, and supportive of my efforts and give me encouragement to continue on. I can also write how I absolutely enjoy creating this strip. It has, for the most part, been effortless to write and draw. I can write what a joy it has been to be able to do this project after dreaming about it for so many years. As far back as I can remember, I’ve wanted to draw and publish a comic strip with the single goal: to entertain. Thanks to all of you and the modern technology, it’s happening.
Where do I go from here?
Full steam ahead. Over the next weeks and months I bring you more stories, jokes, puns, and introduce more of the cast. We’ll get to know Duff and Carl and what exactly is Flatt Bear.
So as a gift to you and celebration for the one month anniversary, I will reveal a spoiler for you in the current story arc: Duff and Carl eventually get out of the tree. But where do they go from there? The ground? A shrub? Another tree? That You’ll have to keep showing up to find out.
Thanks again and let’s have some fun!!!
