What if?
As I mentioned before, I thought it would be fun to see what casting for a live action version of my comic would look like. Who play the parts? Most importantly, what would each character look like? Keep in mind, these are not real people, they are 3d models. I’ll explain software and workflow later.
Ladies and Gents, casting call for ….
The very levelheaded Lucy Trout.
That model of Lucy is faaaaaaaaantastic! I dabbled with blender for awhile but never could do characters as well as that. I could make any object of a wide variety of materials with all sorts of illumination effects but characters were always beyond me.
I’ve downloaded Blender but have never installed it yet. I’ve heard the latest version is fantastic. Rivals 3d Studio, which is what I’ve been using for years.
She looks fantastic! Um…how old is Lucy? She looks pretty young, especially for having to deal with Duffy.
Plastic surgery? Clean living? Aging these characters in this particular software I’m using is difficult. It’s all based of of mapping and I didn’t want to spend tons of time re-mapping them. I always thought Lucy was around mid 30’s, She just wears it well.
I actually know someone in her early- to mid-30’s who looks like she’s 20. Now I know her secret. She was obviously created with this software!
This software will replace all plastic surgery techniques, that’s for sure.
The photo realistic Lucy is very impressive. Creating the model and rigging must have taken a HUGE amount of time. …and you did this for all of Flatt Bear’s cast?
The software I’m using is called Daz3d, and it’s actually free. Yep, free. It’s one of those give the software, make money on content. You wind up buying pre-configured assets, like figures, props, clothing. Rigging is built in to each figure. Not as difficult as it seems. Not like building assets from scratch.
Wow, that is cool!! She looks great!
Thanks!!! The rest to follow.
