Curse of the Cutie-patootie
Blessing and a curse. I feel for ya’ Duff.
This is one of the reasons why I love cartooning, for moments like this. Where everything seems to come together in the perfect storm. This was one of those strips where I seemed to draw it with little effort. What I mean is, without a ton of erasing, redrawing, and grumbling. I love how dynamic Duffy’s poses came out. Could I be hitting my stride? Is this the turning point for the strip?
Until I draw Friday’s then all bet’s are off.
Until then, enjoy Duff’s ravings.
Adding action & expression to the characters is something my strips regularly lack. I need to be more aware of that when I’m drawing. You captured it well here PJ. And I agree a reset button would be handy for Duffy at times
Some like it furry! :OP
Your characters are expressive in their gestural poses. Well done! If I took the words away, I can tell how the characters are feeling.
Thanks! That’s what I like to hear.
I too am totally digging the dynamic poses! If you take the dialogue out completely, you can still feel how very expressive it all is. The words are just the icing on an already wonderful cake. 😀
Oh, and I can totally relate to Duff in this strip. 😀 Kidding.
wow. Thanks Courtney!! That’s a huge complement coming from the likes of you. The king of “silent drama.”
BTW, we all secretly relate to Duff.
Born free, as free as his wind blows…
Looking good, P.J.! There is something to that stride thing, sometimes it just flows. But I find I’m always struggling to find the right pose strip by strip, no matter how many times I draw the character.
Thanks Mark. I get worried that since this arc has been playing out for weeks, that my two main characters were stagnating in blocking the scenes out. I thought just at the last minute I’d try to mix it up. The frames sketched out without effort.
Haha, Duffy has that irresistible charm!
Duff is what us guys only dream of being…suave.
P.J. I agree with your blog post today. While reading today’s comic I thought, “I really like all these poses P.J. got Duffy in.” Really an extra great job on today’s gag! 😀
Thanks Bill. Appreciate the comments! 🙂 Yeah, this one felt really good. And I managed to get it inked, colored and posted two whole hours before I usually get them done. Win!
