Comfort Filth

"Stack of toenails" is a line I've been trying to work into this strip for months now.  See what patients gets you? I was looking at the character sketches on my wall above my drawing table.  I notice that somewhere along the way, Amelia lost her little girl look.  Don't know what it was I did in those original sketches but I can't seem to capture that feel now.  I've tried.  Maybe this is the way she needs to be and it's the comic gods telling me to "leave her be." Amelia-Sketch Close, but.... And for those who are keeping track, there someone who has been missing for quite a while who is due for a comeback. Stay tuned.   Cheers.

  1. This comic shoulda came with a disclaimer…or at least a bottle of disinfectant.

  2. And the winner of the Gross award 2014 goes to………..

    1. He would do Oscar Madison proud.

  3. That’s not a house, it’s a habitat.

    1. Well, he is a bear. 🙂

  4. I’m a neat freak, I wouldn’t be able to take the pressure of staying there! 😛

    1. Our power went out one night due to a storm many years ago. I stayed with some people I knew. Slept on their floor in the spare bedroom. Within an hour after I had arrived, both their dogs had peed on my sleeping bag one chose to top it off with a wonderful dookie. and in the morning, I had several roaches running over my hand while I was at the the bathroom sink. We opted to brave our own hot, powerless house the next night.

      1. Oh my god…
I don’t think there is an emoticon to express how I feel about that!

        1. You’re an artist, Bill. Maybe you can invent one for this occasion. 😉

  5. Glad you got the “Stack of toenails” in there p.j. It can be frustrating to have a line you like and not know how to use it! And yes, it’s amazing how differently a character can look over time. The comic gods have been good to Amelia!

    1. Thanks David. She’s not exactly how I want her to look. I wanted her to look more childlike, like 9 or 10 years old. She’s OK now, just a little older than I wanted. She’s still fun to draw though.

  6. Wow you did it. It’s not every day anyone gets to use “Stack of toenails” in a comic. I remember a woman on the train once clipping her toenails & they were flying off in all directions. It would’ve been nicer if she’d stacked them

    1. They are easier to maintain… and catalog if they are stacked.
